File Extension TEF

The file extension TEF is associated with the TablEdit software application. TablEdit is a tablature editor which is used to create and edit guitar tablatures in addition to listening to sheet music created with standard musical notation.

TablEdit also provides tools for creating tablatures for other stringed instruments such as the mandolin, mountain dulcimer, banjo, and other similar instruments. Once the musical compositions are created, they can be played back using a Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) output which is equipped with volume, balance, voices, and other MIDI controls.

The file extension TEF is categorized as a data file type which stores tablatures for a wide variety of stringed instruments in addition to sheet music created with standard musical notation. TEF files are proprietary to the TablEdit software application and typically are not converted in order to preserve the formatting of the tablatures and musical compositions for stringed instruments.
