File Extension QEL

The file extension QEL is associated with Quicken, which is a financial application produced by Intuit that is used by banking institutions to transmit account information over the Internet. Quicken allows you to manage your money and provides a collaborative feature that allows you to bring all your accounts together in one location.

QEL files are an accounting file type that acts as an electronic library file. The files contain banking information which is used with Quicken with the data stored in five different files. The data is separated to allow you to organize your financial data according to different accounts.

QEL files are duplicate supportive files which can easily be deleted in the event the Quicken application develops an error. The next time you log into your account another QEL file is automatically created.

QEL files are stored in the main file which is known as a QDF file. The files are stored along with other Quicken files such as QSD and QTX which are automatically updated by Quicken. If any of the files in the QDF folder are deleted, they will automatically be recreated by Quicken the next time you open the program.

How to Open QEL Files

If you use the Windows operating system, you can open QEL files using Quicken 2013, which is available as a paid download on the Intuit website. For Mac OS X, you must use Quicken Essentials for Mac to open QEL files. Quicken Essentials for Mac is available as a paid download on the Intuit website as well.

If you have a QEL file and you do not have access to the Quicken financial application, you can convert the file to another format for use with other applications such as Microsoft Money, iWork Numbers and others. Simply learn what file extensions these programs use and then use a file conversion program to convert QEL files to another format.

There are a number of file conversion programs available as a free download on websites such as CNET and Softpedia which will convert Quicken files for you. You can also use an online resource such as Zamzar which will perform free file conversion for you. Simply log onto the website, browse for the QEL file, choose a new format, enter your email address, and click on Convert. Within minutes you will receive the newly converted file in your email inbox.

Also, if you already have another financial application loaded onto your PC, you can try opening the QEL file using the application you have installed.
