File Extension QBX

The file extension QBX is associated with QuickBooks by Intuit, Inc. It is a software application which provides a suite of business accounting tools for the purpose of preparing financial records and various tax documents. QuickBooks is used in small business to organize financial information and track incoming and outgoing transactions related to running a business.

The QBX file extension is categorized as a backup file type which stores financial data that has been created and organized using the QuickBooks financial application. QBX files are created from an original file which is named with the file extension QBW and stores duplicate data which can be restored in the event of data loss.

A QBX file is created as a backup file and is known as an Accountant Transfer File. The file is saved under the Create Accountant’s Copy feature in the QuickBooks application and can be exported to other financial software programs.

How to Open QBX Files

Since the QBX file extension can be opened using multiple programs and applications, double click on the file to see if it will automatically open in a default program you have installed on your PC. QBX files are capable of being exported, so you may already have a program which will open the file.

If you are using the Windows operating system, you can open QBX files using QuickBooks Pro 2013 which contains improved features and functions for working with financial data. QuickBooks Pro for Windows is available in a paid version on the Intuit website and as an upgrade version if you already have QuickBooks installed on your PC.

For Mac OS X, QBX files can be opened using QuickBooks for Mac 2013 which provides additional functions for organizing financial data. QuickBooks for Mac is available in a paid version on the Intuit website and as an upgrade version if you already have QuickBooks installed on a Mac PC.

QBX files can also be imported into other financial software applications such as Total Office Manager which is QuickBooks compatible. Total Office Manager is an accounting software program which includes accounting tools, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications, and inventory control functions which are used for business operations. Total Office Manager is available on the Aptora Software website and is designed for use with the Windows operating system.

QBX files can also be converted to another financial file format such as XLSX or OFX for use with a broader range of applications. There are a number of file conversion programs available as a free download on websites such as CNET, Softpedia, and Softonic which will convert QBX files for you.

You can also opt to use an online resource such as Zamzar which will perform free file conversion for you as long as the file has not been encrypted. Simply log onto the Zamzar website, browse for the QBX file, choose a new format, enter your email address, and click on Convert. Within minutes you will receive the newly converted file in your email inbox.
