File Extension QBW

The file extension QBW is associated with QuickBooks by Intuit, Inc. QuickBooks is a financial software application used by accountants and small businesses to organize financial data and bookkeeping records. QBW files represent the main accounting files which are created by the QuickBooks application.

QBW files are categorized as a data file type which stores text, numerical data, mathematical formulas, charts, graphs, and other components which are used to maintain bookkeeping records. QBW files are the original file which is archived when data is condensed in QuickBooks. In this case the QBW file is typically named Archive Copy ##/##/200#.QBW. The # symbol is replaced with numerical data to represent separate QBW files.

The Archive Copy file is used to revert back to the original information when some of the data is removed to condense files in QuickBooks. The QBB file extension is accompanied by an Archive Copy file and acts as an additional backup file for added assurance the data can be restored in the event of file corruption or other type of data loss.

How to Open QBW Files

If the file extension QBW is created using your PC, you can try double clicking on the file to see if it will open in a default application you have installed on your device. If the file was created on your PC, chances are the default application will be the QuickBooks software application.

If the file that contains the QBW extension is sent to you and you are using the Windows operating system, you can open it using Intuit QuickBooks Pro 2013. Total Office Manager is available on the Aptora Software website and is designed for use with the Windows operating system.

QBW files can also be converted to another financial file format such as XLSX or OFX for use with a broader range of applications. There are a number of file conversion programs available as a free download on websites such as CNET and Softpedia which will convert QBW files for you.
