File Extension OPD

The file extension OPD is associated with multiple programs and applications and various file types. The most common association is OmniPage, but the file extension can also be created with Durango Interferometry Software or ZX Spectrum. OPD files contain data and information related to the program that created the file.

If the OPD file extension is related to OmniPage, the file is categorized as a page layout file type which stores text, page layouts, font styles, and images that are commonly used to create a professional document. This type of OPD file is in a format which is proprietary to OmniPage. OmniPage is a character recognition software application created by Nuance Communications for the purpose of converting hardcopy documents to a digital format.

OPD files which are associated with Durango Interferometry Software are a data file type that contains documents created with the Durango Interferometry Software application. Durango is a software application which is used for data acquisition and analysis in addition to exchanging data for collaboration and viewing simulations associated with Interferometry. Interferometry is the process of separating rays of light into two separate beams in order to extract data associated with individual waves.

If the file extension OPD is part of ZX Spectrum, the file is an emulator file type which contains resource data that is used by emulators for the ZX Spectrum of computers. The ZX Spectrum is a group of 8-bit computers which use emulators for MS-DOS and other operating systems. The emulators support media applications, joystick interfaces, printers, and other functions used with a variety of platforms.

How to Open OPD Files

If the file extension OPD is created with OmniPage, the file should be opened using the OmniPage application mainly due to the fact the file is proprietary to OmniPage. OmniPage converts paper documents as well as images and PDF files to an editable digital format to prevent the user from having to retype the documents. If you are using the Windows operating system, you should use OmniPage 18 and for Mac OS X, use OmniPage Pro X. Both applications are available as a paid download on the Nuance Communications website.

OPD files which are part of Durango Interferometry can be opened using the Durango Interferometry Software application. Durango is designed for use with the Windows operating system and also supports devices such as National Instruments NI-DAQ as well as camera to PC image acquisition options such as RS-170 video, various digital cameras, and CCIR video. Licenses for Durango Interferometry Software are available on the Diffraction International website for the Durango Import, Static, Phase, and Academic versions of the software. You can also opt to download the free version of Durango on the Diffraction International website.

OPD files which are associated with MS-DOS emulators can be opened using the appropriate emulation program the file is meant to be used with. OPD Emulators are available on the World of Spectrum.org website and are available as a free download complete with documentation. ZX Spectrum creates emulators for MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows, Linux, UNIX, Macintosh platforms, Amiga OS, Acorn/RISC OS, Xbox, Nintendo, Sony PlayStation, and a variety of other devices.
