File Extension NET

The file extension NET is associated with multiple programs and applications and various file types. The programs and applications include FileMaker Pro, OrCAD, and netViz. NET files contain data and information related to the program that created the file.

If the NET file extension is related to FileMaker Pro, the file is a plugin file type that extends the capabilities of networking support for the FileMaker application. This type of NET file is typically installed with FileMaker and lends support for the TCP/IP and IPX/SPX protocols. FileMaker Pro is a database management application for the iPad, iPhone, Windows, Mac OS X, and the Web.

If a NET file is created with OrCAD, it is a CAD file type that contains circuit board designs for electronic configurations and devices. OrCAD is a Computer Aided Design program produced by Cadence Design Systems that provides productivity tools for design teams and circuit board engineers.

NET files that are associated with netViz are a data file type that contains diagrams and illustrations that describe IT infrastructures and various business paradigms. NetViz is now part of CA Technologies and is an application that displays data graphically to provide an understanding of workflow processes, IT, and business infrastructures.

How to Open NET Files

Since the file extension NET can be opened using multiple programs and applications, double click on the file to see if it will automatically open in a default program you have installed on your PC. NET files can consist of different file types, so you may already have a program which will open them.

If the NET file is associated with FileMaker Pro, you must open it using the FileMaker Pro application since the file plays a role in the proper functioning of the application. FileMaker Pro is available in a free trial version on the FileMaker website and is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, iPad, and the iPhone. If you simply want to open and view the contents of this type of NET file, you can use any text editing program such as Notepad or WordPad for Windows, Apple TextEdit for Mac, or gEdit and Nano Editor for Linux.

NET files that are created with OrCAD can be opened using the OrCAD program which is available in a paid version on the Cadence website. OrCAD is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X. You can also use the ArchiCAD application, which is a Computer Aided Design program available on the GRAPHISOFT website. ArchiCAD is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X.

If the NET file extension is related to netViz, you can open the file using netViz enterprise software which is available in a free demo and a paid version on the CA Technologies website. Since CA Technologies no longer supports netViz, you can also opt to open NET files using netTerrain which is a similar application produced by CA Technologies and compatible with Windows and Mac OS X.
