File Extension INK

The file extension INK is associated with multiple programs and applications and various file types. The programs and applications include CorelDRAW, IntKey, InkML, and Mimio. INK files contain data and information related to the program that created the file.

If the INK file extension is related to CorelDRAW, the file is an image file type which stores color data for related image files. INK files are saved in the same location as the image file itself. CorelDRAW is a graphics creation and editing application produced by Corel Corporation.

INK files which are part of IntKey are a text file type that contains startup configurations and provides information on the location of a data set and its corresponding images. An IntKey file is in DELTA (Description Language for Taxonomy) format and is a process which is used to encode descriptions for computer processing.

If the file extension INK is defined as an InkML pen drawing, the file is an image file type which stores drawings in InkML or Inke Markup Language. This type of markup language is typically in XML (Extensible Markup Language) format which stores the images as a vector graphic.

INK files that are created with Mimio are a data file type which is commonly used with electronic whiteboard devices. This type of INK file contains text, images, diagrams, and other elements in vector format for use with interactive lessons using a tablet PC screen.

How to Open INK Files

Since INK files are associated with multiple programs and applications, double click on the file to see if it will automatically open in a default program you have installed on your PC. INK files can consist of different file types, so you may already have a program which will open them.

If the file extension INK is related to CorelDRAW, you can open the file using CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 which is available on the Corel website and compatible with the Windows operating system. If you are using another operating system, you can opt to convert the INK extension to another format for use with a broader range of applications.

There are a number of file conversion programs available as a free download on websites such as CNET which will convert INK files for you. You can also use an online resource such as Zamzar which will perform free file conversion. Simply log onto the website, browse for the file, choose a new format, enter your email address, and click on Convert. Within minutes you will receive the newly converted file in your email inbox.

INK files that are associated with IntKey can be opened using the DELTA format system which requires a computer-generated key. You can also open and view the contents of this type of INK file using any text editing program such as Notepad or WordPad for Windows, Apple TextEdit for Mac, or gEdit and Nano Editor for Linux.

INK files which are classified as an InkML file can be opened using the Core InkML Library program, which is an application that develops InkML as a digital ink format. The Core InkML Library is an open source application available on the SourceForge website. Core InkML is compatible with the Windows operating system, Mac OS X, and the Linux operating system.

If the file extension INK is associated with Mimio, the file can be opened using Mimio Studio 9.12. Mimio Studio is available for download on the Mimio website and is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, and the Linux operating system.
