File Extension IND

The file extension IND is associated with multiple programs and applications. The most common association is Adobe InDesign, but the extension can also be created by Sony and Foxmail. IND files contain data and information related to the program that created them.

If the files are related to Adobe InDesign, they are a data file type that contains page layouts, text, images, graphics, and other elements used to create professional looking documents. InDesign is part of the CS6 Creative Suite of applications by Adobe Systems. IND files are also commonly seen as the file extension INDD, and the three letter extension is used with operating systems that will not accept extensions that are more than three characters.

The IND files created by Sony are miscellaneous file types which contain data related to formatting for memory sticks used with Sony devices. The devices can include PlayStation Portable as well as digital cameras and other Sony devices.

If the IND files are associated with Foxmail, they are a data file type that contains text, images, themes, font styles, and other elements you typically use when composing email messages. Foxmail is a free email client that allows you to compose email messages, send and receive messages, manage contact lists, and organize daily tasks.

How to Open IND Files

Since IND files are associated with multiple programs and applications, double click on the file to see if it will automatically open in a default program you have installed on your PC. IND files can consist of different file types, so you may already have the needed program.

If the IND files are created with Adobe InDesign, you can open them by downloading a free trial of InDesign from the Adobe website. InDesign is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X. You can also opt to convert InDesign files to another format for use with a variety of applications. Simply open the document in InDesign and click on File and then Save As. Save the file to Portable Document Format (PDF) and then click on OK. Once the IND file is in PDF, you can open and edit it using applications that accept the PDF extension.

IND files that are related to Sony are typically not designed to be opened manually since they are files which assist with formatting the memory stick. The memory stick is then used as a media card to run games on a PlayStation Portable or work with digital cameras or camcorders.

If the IND files are created by Foxmail, you can open them by downloading and installing Foxmail, which is available as a free download on the Softpedia or Softonic websites. You can also open and view the contents of this file type using any text editing program such as Notepad or WordPad for Windows, Apple TextEdit for Mac, or gEdit and Nano Editor for Linux.
