DMDScript can be used with Windows, Mac OS X, or the Linux operating system. This type of DS file can also be opened using one of the text editing applications mentioned above.

If the file extension DS is related to Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet T series devices, the file must be opened using the TWAIN communications interface software application. TWAIN-compatible software is available on the Hewlett-Packard website along with instructions for setting up communications with OfficeJet T series devices.

DS files which are related to LMMS DrumSynth and stored in a lossless format can be opened using Linux MultiMedia Studio 0.4.10 through 0.4.13 which is available as a free download on the SourceForge website. Linux MultiMedia Studio is compatible with Windows and the Linux operating system.
