File Extension DCM

The file extension DCM is associated with multiple programs and applications and various file types. The programs and applications include DICOM, DCM Audio, DiskCatalogMaker, Memeo AutoBackup and Atari. DCM files contain data and information related to the program that created the file.

If the DCM file extension is related to DICOM, the file is categorized as an image file type which stores medical images with corresponding patient information. The images are created from Ultrasound tests, MRIs, and CT scans and stored in a proprietary format known as DICOM. How to Open DCM Files

Since the file extension DCM is associated with multiple programs and applications, double click on the file to see if it will automatically open in a default program you have installed on your PC. DCM files can consist of different file types, so you may already have a program which will open the file.

DCM file which are defined as a DICOM file can be opened using DicomWorks, which is a software application that is specially designed for reading medical images and the data which accompanies them. DicomWorks can be downloaded as a free application on the DicomWorks website and is designed for use with the Windows operating system. You can also opt to use ACD Systems Canvas 14 which is available on the ACD Systems website and is compatible with Windows as well.

For Mac OS X, you can open DCM DICOM files using Adobe Photoshop CS6, which is part of the Adobe CS6 Creative Suite of applications. Photoshop CS6 is available in a free trial version on the Adobe website and works with the Windows operating system as well. You can also use OsriX Imaging Software, which is an advanced open source PACS Workstation DICOM Viewer that will open DCM files on a Mac PC. OsriX Imaging Software is available as a free download on the OsriX Viewer website.

There are also several cross platform applications such as XnView and GIMP which will open DCM DICOM files. XnView is an open source software application which provides tools for viewing, storing, and converting more than 300 different types of graphics formats. XnView is available as a free download on the XnView website. GIMP is another open source multiplatform application which will open DCM files. GIMP is an image editing application which is available as a free download on the GIMP.org website. Both applications are compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, and the Linux operating system.

DCM audio files can be opened using Awave Studio 10.6, which is a multi-purpose software application which can open audio files in the DCM format. Awave Studio 10.6 is available in a free trial version on the FMJ Software website and is compatible with the Windows operating system version XP and later.

If the file extension DCM is related to DiskCatalogMaker, the file can be opened using DiskCatalogMaker for Mac which is available on the DiskCatalogMaker website. The DiskCatalogMaker application is available in both older and newer versions and as an upgrade for Roxio Toast 11 users.

DCM files which are part of Memeo AutoBackup must be opened using the AutoBackup software application since the files are essential to accessing files which have been backed up with AutoBackup. Memeo AutoBackup is available on the Memeo website and is compatible with the Windows operating system.
