File Extension 411

The file extension 411 is associated with Sony Mavica, which is an older digital camera that was marketed from the early 1980s to the early 2000s. Mavica gets its name from the type of camera that creates 411 files which is a Magnetic Video Camera. The Mavica camera is a specific type of electronic still camera which provides a way for still photos to be viewed on a traditional television set.

The file extension 411 is an image file type that contains images created with the Sony Mavica camera. The images were originally stored on a small diskette which was capable of storing up to fifty still frame photos that were created with a resolution of 570 X 490.

The original file extension 411 did not contain digital images as in the later models of the Sony Mavica camera. This was due to the fact the CCD sensor in the earlier Mavica models only recorded video signals which were based on the NTSC (National TV Standards Committee) standard. The later Mavica models began to produce digital images which were either saved to a floppy disk or more recently, a memory stick.
